With having explored the question of HOW early Christians dealt with the conflict between Kingdom and Empire, the next question is WHERE. Where did they negotiate the issues of conflict as they tried to be faithful to the Kingdom Jesus had proclaimed in the midst of an Empire which had a different agenda for its citizens and non-citizens? This brings us to the second recent Biblical discovery or rediscovery: the work of the Greco-Roman Meals subsection of the Society for Biblical Literature (SBL). In this section our questions are:
